Problems with opening publications in DjVu

2026-02-13

We have been observing problems with opening publications in DjVu format for some time now.

This results from compatibility issues with HTML5 in browsers, through which publications saved in this format have been opened until now. We do not know why some publications still open, while others have problems. We do not recommend using smartphones for browsing our resources; we recommend using the Chrome or Firefox browser on computers and trying to open documents from our resources on them.

Concurrently, for over a year now, work has been underway to transfer documents saved in DjVu format to PDF format. Unfortunately, this is a lengthy and time-consuming process, as it involves tens of thousands of existing publications (books and journals) that need to be subjected to comprehensive graphic processing and OCR of the source files, saved to PDF format, and replaced on servers. There is no possibility of converting DjVu files directly to PDF.

Therefore, we ask for your patience and understanding; work is ongoing every day, alongside other responsibilities and tasks carried out by us within the Radom Digital Library.
